The Ruppel Family

Our Family has been farming for 3 genarations. we started in the sheeep business in 1977 in Colorado with 2 registered ewes for a
4-H project.
We showed in 4-H and the Top Of The Rockies in Colorado.
The flock grew to 300 head of registered ewes by 1986.
The flock sold many rams though out the west to farm flocks as well as range operations.
In 1988 the flock was cut back to 25 of the better ewes when David moved to MN for a construction job.  David again built it back to
180 ewes by 1991. But as his job got more demanding the flock was dispersed in 1992.
In 1996 David longed to get back to his roots as a ranch family again and we had started a herd of cattle. In 2000 the herd had
gotten large enough that we could not find enough land in one location in MN to run them. So we bought the Ranch in Summit SD.  
The kids got older and wanted more responsibilities. The family decided to add sheep back to the operation.
We started the flock with three breeds that we felt would work great in the show ring as well as the farm, range and feedlot.
Our ewes run on our 1200 acre ranch in NE South Dakota.
We are using breeding from flocks that can compete in the show ring as well as survive on the range.
We are a young flock, but we do have over 20 years experience in the seed stock  business as well as the cattle too.
